When can we bomb the red states?
I’m just saying, if another civil war should arise, I’d be happy to slaughter me some red states. It may not be right and go against all that I feel is correct, yet it would feel soooo gooood.

So Heather and I have a Peppermint Martini that we have crafted, and
One day in the middle of December, after H took a sip out of hers, she got an idea to take snaps. Immediately, I made space and cleared a table, and these are the results. I’m very fond of them. I forget who took which snap, though – I think H did the directly over the glass ones. At any rate, here they are:
From above:

Another from above, with a flash (I love the alcohol legs on the glass, a bit posterized in Pshop):

With the fun watercolour filter and figiting in Pshop (I am planning to attempt to paint this in acrylc on a large square canvas):

I love this angle:

And the last, similar angle:

the last one I like a bunch, now I want to make one!
Lookit! (for the non-PDX people who want to see the new place)

Hmm. I don’t think I’ll be getting anywhere tonight. Melt is going very slow and due to neighbour’s heavy trucks, there are frozenish ruts left by tires that my lovely little Hansel won’t be able manoever around! Poop! Also too icy to walk to MAX. Anyone local want to hang tonight and pick me up? I need to GET OUT! 😀
The font.
My hatred for Chicago knows no bounds of reason or perspective. I find it so ugly – I think it was a main reason I was unrealistically anti-apple for so long – I’ve disliked it (and typefaces like the Ultramodern family) for as long as I can remember – it is something about the sans sarif and variable stroke width that I find extremely unpleasing. Corpulent, corpselike – ew.
So, that said, now that HP has licensed the iPod from Apple, if they change the system font, I’ll be overjoyed! Since in reality, only 3 things have stopped me from wanting an iPod:
1. God Damn that fucking Chicago font!
2. No removable/serviceable battery
3. Supporting Apple’s hardware monopoly
If the HP versions are iPods with apple scratched out and ‘HP” written in crayon, fuck ’em.
I know there wasn’t much confusion on that fact, here’s more evidence:
After putting chains on my cabrio and trying them out in the driveway, I become stuck. I then see the front wheels spinning. I have a front-wheel drive car, not rear-wheel. I put chains on the wrong wheels (and now can’t switch ’em cause I’m stuck).
At least hansel is still on our property and such, and the snow will be gone relatively soon so I can switch the chains, but jeeze what an eejit.
So I’m missing
With the winter storm that keeps me house-bound and my work-at-home situation, I almost feel like I am in pergatory, and all I will ever know is this routine of work, unpack, eat, sleep, repeat.
Hopefully tonight I can get the car out (I’ll need chains no doubt) so I can visit my friend Devin. I swear, I’ll even walk to freaking max if I have to.
At least pipes have unfrozen so I can run dishwasher and clothes washer. I even was able to take a lukewarm shower last night! Yay!
Work still sucks, even more so that I am on limited time. Blah, bitchy bitchy whine whine.
Lovin’ PDX even still. Yay new home.
There!
In Portland, Stuff unloaded (huge thanks to
I just got my damn Comcast Internet connection working, just in time for work tomorrow 🙂
It was snowing after we arrived, gorgeous. Portland welcomed us, I feel 🙂
more later – so much still to do!
Hey everyone:
Took a bit longer to get packed and ready to go.
We are leaving with 2 other cars and 3 friends tomorrow morning. Tralier left yesterday, it will be delivered between 10AM and 12PM on Friday, 2nd January, 2004.
We’ll be in the house about 6-7pm tomorrow, we’ll likely hit Edgefield for drinkies and eaties before we completely crash. This Friday’s the unloading day, for all you wonderful peeps who pledged help, that’s the time and day.
Our final walkthrough went well; we will be getting our entire deposit back. So that’s nice. All repsonsibilites cut with old house, new house ready!
Verizon can eat me though. I had to finally call them to find out my order for DSL wasn’t going to work (after they tested the line). I guess I’ll have to pay Comcast instead. Doesn’t help that the soonest they’ll install will be this Saturday. Hopefully I can get it connected so I can work on Monday the 5th. If not, I guess it is off to an internet cafe or something – I suppose I could do (gasp) dial-up. Ew.
Driving tomororw over the pass that was closed this past weekend, avoided that one (whew). It is supposed to snow, though light-ish. All should be well *knockknock*.
That’s about it. Very tired and crazy.
