Labor Day Weekend

and I spent the holiday weekend camping at Belknap hotsprings near the McKenzie river (on I-126 to Bend).

Hung with her sister and her sister’s friend’s family. Cool people even if they are “traditional.” I have very little experience with a “traditional” family and their gender role values, etc.

I can say that of all the children there, the coulple whose values I agreed with most had the nicest/well-behaved children there. The couple whom I disagreed with most (about family values, traditions) had the worst behaved children.

Annecdotal, but quite nice support if we ever decide to spawn.

As of today we are back on WW points system. I need to force some physical activity in here – I’ve not gained significant inches, but it is time to stop any growth in that area anyway. It is time for the next push – last time on the wagon I lost 65lbs. This time I only want to lose about 15-20.

Oh, saw Stumble-fuck’s acceptance speech for the Republican Nomination. That speech alone should make atheists out of anyone. That a person could stand and spew such lies, simplifications, deceptions, jingoism and false piety and not be struck down by lightining proves there is no god.

I don’t know how he did it with a straight face. Well, he did try to smile. Did anyone else notice that the only smile W can manage is a “I shit my pants 3 hours ago and no one has figured it out yet” kind of smile? The smug smirk of a dirty trickster con-man? Maybe it’s just me.

I really don’t know what I’ll do if this incompetant assclown and his three ring circus of criminals retain power. Cry, I suppose. I may have to eventually make good on immigration threats. If Canada is too tough, I could always hitch-hike down to Nicaragua and work on my brother-in-law’s farm…

At least no homeless person used it as a toilet: They found our car: “Far-Out.”

So I get a call from the police last night: They found our car.

I didn’t get the full info from the officers on the scene, but they pulled the guy over who was in it. He was wanted for plenty of bad, bad things (including identity theft and fraud). I’m glad at least that my property helped catch him (being in my stolen car and all).

Here’s the weird things he did to the car:

* Tore out the back of one of the seats
* Threw garbage everywhere
* Smoked like a chimney in it (I can’t believe how it reeks of tobacco)
* Destroyed the driver’s side sunvisor – I know how this happened, though – It comes loose and sometimes when you stop it swings down. Apparently, it did it one too many times for this fellow’s like and he showed it a thing or two.

So the car is back home. We’re not going to use it any more. Off to the junkyard or sell yard or something.

Crabby Man Speaks

It’s been a while for an update and I’ve been quite hermitish as of late.

So here’s what went on since last update

Applied for PSU job; haven’t heard anything yet.

stopped by a few Saturdays ago. Much fun was had and drinks were drunk. Fun visit.

A friend of ours is moving to PDX and we hung out a bit this last Saturday. He should be here this next weekend.

This coming weekend we’ll be camping at Bellknap with ‘s sister and her husband, our niece, their friends, etc… We’re mooching a bit and paying for it as the weekend’s indentured bartender/mixers. Looking foreward to that.

Damn I want that PSU Job. I’m going to call over there this afternoon to inquire about it. Hopefully they are just in red tape and didn’t forget to inform those they rejected.

Our Friend Rob came to visit us weekend before last and we had a huge ton of fun.

Computer Games:
* I’ve been loving Unreal Tournament 2004. Damn what freakin’ fun.
* Doom3 was a great tech demo of iD’s “new” engine. It really just seems like quake3 engine with advanced models, physics, light, and textures. Doesn’t seem like a “new” engine. Still pretty fun, but I really was underwhelmed.
* Playing Rise of Nations as well – Nice quick fun AoE on steroids type stuff.
* City of Heroes: Still loving it. Hopefully I can get some time with now that he is back.

Poo

Feeling tired and cranky and fed-up with red tape and such.

Taking it one day at a time.

When will someone attack and destroy the insurance industry? Filty thieves, the lot of them.

I (still) Blame W. (and to a degree Clinton)

I wants me some good old coporate regulation! Socialsm, you say? You bet your ass. Line up libertarians so I can piss on ’em.

Gar!

I’m really exhausted mentally after yesterday’s BS. I’m growing more and more tired of the crappy game you have to play to be able to live in society. I’m thinking leaving it all behind would be an acceptable alternative. Live on an island somewhere? Maybe hard work in a developing nation?

It’s just hard to come to the realization of just how much this world sucks. At the same time, It’s an amazing world.

Taking things one day at a time. Realizing I should never have sold out my soul to Fair Isaac & Co.

Maybe it’s time for a revolution? Karl Marx, where are you?

I mean, how much is too much? When will the workers wake up and realize that all power does not derive from wealth and resources?

Gar.

I’m probably just (Male)PMS-y and upset from yesterday’s car theft and financial issues.

But really, what’s the point?

Grr, Argh. Need to socialize!

I feel a great need to have a get-together, but I don’t know where to fit it in or how to afford it.

The Monkey Hut needs love! I also need to play some games with other people. Trouble is, No extra cash for gas to go places, or with which to purchase snacks or other such stuff. Perplexing.

I wish our fun place wasn’t so far away from our current PDX peeps, it makes it difficult to say to anyone, “hey come over and hang.” And I’m guessing there is little luck easily meeting interesting people in Troutdale/Gresham. Oh, they must be out there, but not in great amounts. I forget how much I needed personal interaction and chatting in person – phone or IM or email just doesn’t cut it.

Even then, this weekend’s time is small – Friday we are going to a party in St. Johns, Sunday we are going to celebrate ‘s bday. Saturday we should be at helping at the Haunt.

We seem to be full of social plans, but not in the type that I currenly would like. Boy do I sound bitchy and needy, huh?

Well, in other news, I’m thinking about trying to start an RPG campaign up (yet again). I sure hope this one will stick. Going back to the old standby CHAMPIONS. After watching HellBoy and Spiderman2 has really re-kindled the old RPG feelings. Broke out the RPG boxes and re-read the 5th ed. HERO rulebook. Good memories there. Perhaps tonight I’ll roll up a few characters and do some brainstorming? That sounds fun.

Oh, being broke sucks.

P.S. I can’t wait for school to start! (I better start saving for tuition and books.)

P.P.S. I’m seriously thinking about stopping driving and instead riding my bike to MAX and then to School, work, etc. As soon as all the work stuff is moved to the new office, I shouldn’t need to go between the 2 offices anymore, the bike should work. I don’t know if MAX vs. car/gas will save any $$, but it sure would help to get my ass in shape.

P.P.P.S. Need to go camping again. Bellknap coming up, that will be fun.

various weekend news and update

Back from camping

Boy that was a ton of fun. We swam, hiked, laid on the riverside, saw the Trees of Mystery, visted Fern Canyon (gorgeous), etc.

Much relaxation was had.

However, when confronting life on Monday, had a serious-type mood swing and depressive thoughts.
All better today – I think there wasn’t enough time to become acustomed to the routine again. Either that or I am crazy.

Heather started her new shift today (6am-2:30pm) so she’ll be a (rightful) bear to deal with as she gets small amounts of sleep, poor monkey. She has an interview on Wednesday, so everyone wish her well.

I am now an official PSU student. I registered, got my Student ID, my Library account, and my Computer account. Classes start in Sept, so now I’m in “save and save” mode for when we’ll need the cash later.

Work is OK – Its free-form nature is as much a bad point as a good point lately, as I only have self-created (yet needed) busy work lately, such as inventory and preparing for a move.

Oh, and I hope can get a break to come visit us and the Monkey Hut.

BTW, , Monkey Hut is open weeknights as well as weekends. Make your reservation!

Updates

Great thanks to everyone who helped out – Sam is back to normal (or as normal he can be).

We’re going camping with our friends Mark and Maggie so that should be fun. Our friend Rob from CA is joining us. We’re going to Del Norte campground just south of Crescent City, CA. Hooray for road trips and redwoods. Hansel is dying to get on the open road. 😉

Thanks again, especially to and . You guys are the bestest.

kitty update and other bits

Sam is home – he’s all beat, but he is stable and comfortable. Sure hope he gets better soon. Fever is almost gone, just needs to rest. We had to take him out early, but the nice Dr. we had the first night thinks it will be ok – we are nursing and watching him carefuly.

In other news, I have been accepted to PSU. A bit of good new sure was needed and that certainly helped.
