Friday Five Cause “Why Not?”

1. What food do you like that most people hate?

Sardines, Capers, Stinky Cheese, Sushi, Pickled Herring, Sauerkraut.

2. What food do you hate that most people love?

I likes me the food, so I run a blank here.

3. What famous person, whom many people may find attractive, is most unappealing to you?

Any of the Carmen Electra / Pamela Anderson typical “made-up” women. Just not my aesthetic, they look more like circus clowns to me: The clowns that make you sad.

4. What famous person, whom many people may find unappealing, do you find attractive?

DJ Qualls. I could eat that boy with a spoon. I find him incredibly HOT.

5. What popular trend baffles you?

Fear-based overprotection of children. I just don’t get it. Let your children free. I can open that up to any fear-based over protection, based on a very poor knowledge of statistics or risks. Property, children, lifestyle, homophobia, etc. Conquer your phobias!

Good News on the Job Front for craig

So while I hate my job, they love me, so:

Looks like I’m going to be approved for a “transitional” period after I move. Bascially, I’ll be working from home on key projects and tranings until/while my replacement(s) are found.

So while it means I’ll still be working for a while with this company, it means I can use that paycheck while I’m in portland to float us while H looks for substitute positions (or whatever she feels like doing), and I can job junt while I’m earning a paycheck as well. Plus I work in my jammies.

All things on track!

Official Announcement

pointed this out, so let me make an announcement:

**clears throat**

Heather and I are indeed moving to portland. We have set a date (First week of January), we’ll post the address soon (Heather may post it herself).
We have notified our jobs and given our notice (this Monday).

, , , , other Portland people: It is official!

Now if only these two months could go by quickly.

So

So I gave my notice at work yesterday, made it known I wouldn’t mind working from home in portland. I gave Dec. 24th as my last day.

Went well, I wasn’t escorted out (yet), my boss is doing some serious pressure/arguing for my work-from-home case. Our CIO is dead against the whole telecomuting thing for admins, so it will likely fall through.

If i do the work-from-home thing, I’ll push to be a special support situation: working on projects, admin, planning, maintenance. We’ll see. Given my remoteness, peace and stability in Portland, I would be able to do great things for documentation, standardization, monitoring, etc. Would be a nice shot in the arm for our savings plan. I’d only plan though to work for another year for FI since as soon as residency comes through, it’s back to school for this boy.

I have 9 units to finish a B.A. so I should really get that done with. Then it’s substiuting and the teaching credential.

Though I wonder how this plan and my personal life will conflict with teaching. I’m hoping I can separate it. I mean how many High School teachers were guys that were married, but sucked dick & smoked pot? Probably more than I realized, I suppose. 😀
