“Return to Middle Earth”

Poor Mikey R. He gets a “hosted by” credit, but we never get to see his face.

And then he has to read some really crappy copy.
They don’t even spring for someone who is perhaps somewhat familiar with the language of Tolkien tell him how to pronouce these strange words.

I’m still chuckling over the copy calling the Rohirrim “The Rohans.” I mean, yeah “Rohirrim” is a confusing word for a TV show, but you could of changed it to “The riders of Rohan” or “The people of Rohan”, but the way Mikey said it, it came out “The rohons.” Heheh. I kept thinking “Who are the Rohons? I’ve never heard of them before.”

And the line about “If Edoras is Heaven on middle earth, then Helm’s deep must surely be Hell.” — who wrote that, a 12-year-old? Neither place resembles either a heaven or a hell.

Yes, it’s nitpicking, but really – Have someone look over the copy before it goes out.

  1. I missed this (too busy out buying myself a new desk). Sounds like I didn’t miss much, overall.

Was there much Legolas? ‘Cause that would have made up for all other flaws (even if I had to watch it with the sound turned off). *g*

  2. Come on, he was doing his “behind the music announcer voice” It was too adorable.

And all the boys? “More than friends” I have got to start reading LoTR RPS slash.

  3. I have it taped. You did miss much – there are bits with Dom and Billy that really can’t be missed. We’ll have to schedule a viewing.

  4. Oh, his voice was great. He just needed a pronunciation coach and a better writer.

I liked how his HoYay spilled over onto Mr. Billy Boyd and his silly little faces he makes.

Boys wrestling and grabbing. Very very nice indeed.

  5. Yes, imagine four of us squealing. At not only MR’s voice, but all the pretty boy goodness. It was fun. =)
