Speaking of Tolkien, I just got my copy of Tolkien and the Great War, the new bio. I’m teaching World War I literature now to my Year 9s (8th grade), and I wondered if I could find anything in the bio I might use since I teach a lot of Tolkien fans. 🙂
YES, That was the first I heard of that as well. I hope C.S. gets some attention after JRRT, then perhaps they will.

I’d kill to see what Peter Jackson would do with the The Chronicles of Narnia.
I’m not sure who is set to direct; but WETA is the special effects company, so The visual look for the new Narnia movies should be as fantastic.
Salon consistenly impresses me. One of these days, I’ll make it regular reading, I promise.

That was a great article! I never realized how much influence the two had on each other. I would LOVE to see a well-realized version of the Narnia Chronicles. I’ve always loved those, even today I still reread them every few years.
I stopped reading Salon when Camille Paglia stopped writing her column, I used to enjoy her stuff immensely.
