I figured out what is making my stomach ache so much:
🙁
Coffee.
I had 2 cups this morning and had a terrible stomach ache, so I drank tea at work. Tummy Happy. For a lark, I had a cup. Tummy goes back to ACHING.
This is not good. I just *can’t* stay away from Coffee!
Coffee kills my stomach unless:
a) I mix it with hot cocoa mix that contains milk powder
b) I mix it half coffee, half milk. (Less than half milk isn’t enough.)
However, so long as the acid in coffee is neutralized, I can drink as much as I want without any problems (within the limits of getting the shakes, having insomnia, etc., due to caffeine overload).
I don’t know if it will work the same for you, but if you haven’t tried it, it might be worth trying. Assuming you like cafe au lait or cafe mocha, that is. 🙂
Nope, the coffeee was with cream this afternoon. The coffee in the morning was black.
(unless it was my lunch?)
Blah, don’t like the bad tummyness.
NO, COFFEE?!!???? Pets you.
Can’t….live…without….it.
I believe Tora is correct. It is most likely the acid. There are some coffee’s that are less acidic than others. You might try Columbian and there is another that is a little less acidy but I can’t remmber it.
My problem with coffee is usually the cream I put in it…I can’t stand the stuff black…But you do, if I remember correctly…
Maybe try diluting it a little…That might help…
Hmmm…you know, you may want to check in with your GP if you haven’t already. One of the ways that I know I’m working on an ulcer is if caffene suddenly makes my stomach hurt. I toddle off to the doctor, he gives me medicine for it and within a couple of months I’m back to normal.
They’ve apparently found out that ulcers are some kind of weird viral infection of the stomach, highly treatable. No need to swear off coffee forever that way!
Coffee with a normal amount of cream doesn’t work for me — I still get a horribly painful stomache ache that lasts the rest of the day.
It really has to be equal parts milk and coffee, so unless you really helped yourself to a LOT of cream, it may not have been enough.
Another thing to try is milk powder or condensed milk. With those, the quantity can be less because less of the volume is water.
Nooooooooooooooooo
I need a new stomach, that’s the answer!
Bacterial, actually — helicobacter pilori. They look really cute 😀
yes, I am/was a biologist.
That’s how I am with beer.
I like Land O’ Lakes non-fat half n’ half. My school nurse/friend looked at the ingredients and said she thought it was okay. But I also think it’d be a good idea to go see the doc…
You’re a biologist? My mother is a retired Med Tech with a specialty in MicroBiology. I think she just likes to say all the big and strange words….
I don’t have ulcers (have been tested many times for the heliobacter, no dice) but I have been able to tolerate coffee quite well since acupuncture/herb treatment…I just have to have a reasonable amount. =)
Coffee upsets my stomach too – I need the caffeine, but don’t know if the warmth or other chemicals upset it.
I’m also lactose intolerant and don’t really like soy milk. (And Amy gives me the WHAAAAAAT? look when I drink Diet Dr Pepper first thing in the morning.
