Run! Icelandic sagas! They will avalanche and plow you under. I guess with all the dark time they had, Icelanders wrote (and write) a lot ^_^
He’s an interesting guy, but I don’t like what I’ve seen of his saga translations – too much of that affectedly victorian-fairytale style of language, which doesn’t match the subject matter IMO. I read his ‘Waters Of The Wonderous Isles’ though, and loved some of the imagery – and the language worked better in that context. So. Um. Yeah.
I’ve not read his translations, but I’ve got a few of his stories. K, I haven’t read those yet either, but at least they’re sitting on my bookshelves. The ones that we have, as opposed to the ones yet to be built.
