Well, not really hate, since I don’t know him well enough for that. But every word that I have read from him makes me want to duct-tape his mouth and cut off his fingers.
I wish I could have an ingore filter on blogs because I would really like Boing Boing better if I could make a filter “-doctorow -guatemala”
the beatnik and i were talking about him last night… mostly about he writts and writes and writes and writes, but nobody we know has ever actually read anything of his.
My generation is self-obsessed and has great difficulty with the reality of the perspective of personal opinion.
Oh, yes, sir – your treatises on the ironies of PoMo reactions to pop culture are so important to the world’s written ouvre. Get over yourself already. I can feel the hot air from here, Cory.
My Disneyland novel will beat up his Disneyland novel. It will run home cryin’ to its mommy.
Hasn’t Beatnik read Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom? It might make him cry/throw up, which was my reaction when they DISMANTLED Pirates of the Caribbean (DisneyWorld, but still). Other than that, it was a total Generic Dystopian Technology Future novel, fairly forgettable.
You’re such a pacifist. I want to re-educate the little bastard. Give him to me for ninety days, and I’ll give you back useful, quiet moron to clean your toilet. He won’t be able to do that if you cut off his fingers.
Seriously, though, his fiction makes me want to drop kick him. Except “When Sysadmins Ruled the Earth.” That makes me want to feed him to a starving pitbull.
We who were also in the dot-com boom of SF deny you as our arbiter, Cory.
I’ve read a lot of his stuff–not everything I own, but many other things as well. I like his fiction a lot–some of it I definately love, even. I find his non-fiction–such as a lot of things on boingboing grating and/or boring.
Oh, and also I wanted to say, I thought you could tweak their RSS feed to not include posts from a particular person. I seem to remember them talking about it back in the day, but I never paid attention to it.
