Snow?
Took a 1/2 day yesterday due to sickness recovery. I’m back at work today, at about 80% so I suppose I’ll stay. I may post some Krampus later, may not.
It snowed a bit here yesterday, but certainly not enough to my liking. I want some of Seattle’s snow! Share it, will ya?
Gruß vom Krampus Card XI
Just one Krampus card today. I like the cartoon rendering of this Krampus. I suspect it is later than the others.
There is a trend (as you will see in future post) in the Krampus cards that diminishes the Krampus into caricature, and then in number. What you see is increasingly cute little “Krampusse” and also more racy sexualized Krampus cards (i believe these cards came in the 60’s).
I really like the above card for the framing. I need to find more like it.
Thanksgiving update
Good morning my friends!
The bad news is that I spent Thanksgiving holiday break sick. Boo. The good news is that it did not dampen my spirits much! Hooray!
Wednesday night
Friday I got up and dragged myself to work (had to work on Fri.). I got to work and all my plans kept falling to pieces for the work I had scheduled, and I came to realization that I was definitely sick now. Fever and all.
So
Saturday the four of us and our lovely friend Kim went to a local tree farm to cut our xmas trees and took ’em back to the house. Still sick.
Sunday was continued house decoration and cleaning (we have a metric butt-load of tinsel garland this year). Fever still going on, sick.
Monday! That’s today. I’m here at work. Our nifty Hi-Fi stopped working this year and we finaly found a place that will look at it, so at lunch today we’re taking it there. I hope they can fix it. We have a bunch of ‘new’ xmas LPs to play (including “Disco Noel!”). Oh yeah, baby. Disco xmas.
I’ll see about getting some more Krampus cards up for those who are interested (and also for myself, who I feel gets the most enjoyment of them).
I have my coffee and I’m OK! how are you?
Gruß vom Krampus Cards V-X
Since I won’t be translating all these, I have a number of them with a similar theme.
Here, Krampus is sorting the black hearts from the good hearts to judge them.
Here he weight the good against the Black.
Fiery hearts (which I’ve taken to mean lusty, perhaps also wrathful?) are targets for The Krampus. Here the German
Wenn im Herzen brennt das Feuer
freut sich das schwarze Ungeheuer
Translates to:
When Fire burns in the heart
The black monster is gladdened.
He also extinguishes the hearts burning with fire.
Krampus irons hearts flat, to collect?
He does have a nice collection of both good and (one) black. (Ein guter fang:A good catch)
Always more to come, kiddies. Seien Sie nicht schlimm und Bösen!
KRAMPUS NACHT DREI
Old Man Hermann
I wish “blog” would do a murder-suicide on “podcast” and rid the english language of their usage.
Krampus Cards III and IV
Here are 2 cards where we see the punishment of bad children in action:
In both of these, The Krampus has one hoof/goat leg and one human foot/leg. He still has his birch branch, and in the second card you can see him wearing his basket.
I do so enjoy the comeuppance of naughty children (see: Der Strewelpeter, Edward Gorey).
More to come!

Meat meat meat!
One of our vendors who hunts just dropped by.
He made good on an offer he made a few months age: Game.
I now have a package of Wild Duck breast, Elk summer sausage, and a Deer loin. I can’t wait to try them! Does anyone have recipes or advice for the loin or the duck?
