Ah, another nice weekend.
On Saturday, , Noel and I went to see The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D. Superb. The 3D was not over-the-top, nor were there any added in-your-face gags. It was merely well-done and subtle. Being digital projection and 3D, I saw so many things I never before noticed in all my home-viewings. (I am assuming they were not added, which I suppose they could have been.) The mayor has painted fingernails, there are a bunch of penguins in Christmas town, etc. The movie is perfect.
Funny thing too, I remember 13 years ago (when and I were only a 6-month dating couple) playing hookey from Fullerton JC to hit the premiere at the El Capitan in Hollywood. H got her Jack cookie jar (that is currently on our Kitchen table), I think it was the first time Heather met my sister. Great fun was had in our usual L.A. style of Hollywood and Melrose. Thirteen years.
In other news I successfully made spiced syrup(s) this weekend – I made a cinnamon syrup and a ginger-clove-nutmeg-allspice syrup. I combined them together to make my own (real, with actual spices) Pumpkin Pie Syrup. I’m using it in drink recipes. I am almost near perfection on a Pumpkin Pie Martini for Cyn’s Birthday Party (and our own enjoyment). Yum. The syrup also works well in Tiki Drinks. It still has some particulate matter that I’d like to strain out, though. Perhaps I’ll processs it through some finer mesh. If that fails, I can always do cheesecloth (though that will likely be a huge mess).
Next weekend sees and moving up here to the great PNW. Hooray!
Ok, time to look at what I’m going to accomplish this week here at work. Ta!
Pumpkin Pie Martini.
Recipe will be posted, yes?
Definitely. I need some more experimentation before I settle on recipe.
Keep in mind the syrup preparations are … cumbersome, yet miles ahead of any purchased “pumpkin” flavoured syrup.
We went Saturday too! Where did you go?
And we noticed the detail a lot more, too. Also could have something to do with the fact that we have not seen it on the big screen in 13 years 😉
Bridgeport in Tigard, four-oh-clock. We first went to the land of the couvetards, but in regular couvetardlike fashion, the theatre’s projector was broken. I had to drive through the retardo-traffic hell of Mill Plain all for naught.
P.S. WTF is with the big-brother type cameras? Does Vancouver need cash so badly as to time the lights to trick you into going through a red one? I mean, what a clusterfuck! I’m never going back there, it’s like being drilled in the neck with a rusty hamster wheel.
We went to Bridgeport too, but the 1 pm showing. We had tried to get tickets for the 164th one too but we called ahead so we already knew they were fucked up. 🙂
By the way, that is NOT Vancouver. That is “East Mill Plain”, land of the escaped Californians, which is why it is so retarded. I guess all the decent ones ended up in Troutdale. 😉 I also avoid that place like the plague (used to work on that side of town) but since one of my best friends just moved in about a mile from that theater I guess I am doomed. At least there’s a Gustav’s. 🙂
Ah, “East Mill Plain” is teh Suck. I apologize to the ‘couve.
And we apologize back. APOLOGIES ALL ‘ROUND! Stick to the west side (and the north side) 😉 We know how to roll, yo.
Speaking of 13 years ago, I just found some old pics whilst unpacking. Mostly game night, I think.
Want to see them?
