“Heroes” TV show

So, we decided to TiVo* “Heroes” because I thought it looked interesting and it seems to be getting some traction in entertainment news.

Damn, does it suck. The writing is embarrassing. The acting is amateurish. Production values are nice, the Plot points would be fine if dealt with in a more talented way (Whedon, Abrams, etc.). It’s M. Night Shamalingadingdong-bad.

I watched the whole episode, but that’s it I’m afraid. Heidi Klum says “You’re Out!” of my TiVo line-up.

I didn’t really need another show besides LOST and BSG anyway.

Just embarrassing, I tell you.

*Yes, I’m using TiVo as a verb, so there.

  1. When something stinks that bad, it takes only one whiff to know it’s rotten. I can’t see any possibility of how it could possibly redeem iself.

I was even giving it the benefit of the doubt.

I’m a very demanding and snobbish viewer with narrow entertainment tastes.

  2. i was gonna tivo it too because i had heard good things about it. i’ll take your word for it though. nothing pisses me off more than bad writing.

  3. It’s just the 4400 but with nothing particularly interesting about it, and even 4400 isn’t that great.

    It’s hero-pablum, for the masses!

I don’t like my entertainment too sharp, better water it down for grampy Wal-mart and his high fructose corn syrup militia.

    Wheep-bung.

    over, done.

  4. I wouldn’t want my opinion to be seen as a reccommendation for or against viewing it for others… Just sharing my experience (and perhaps a chance to vent).

It is pretty, and the idea of it is good. I just like my camp to be self-aware.

  5. Spoiled by LOST, BSG, and Joss Whedon I tell you. Once I have the good stuff, can’t go back to kid’s table.

  6. But it’s just a TV show, so I’ll leave it at “you watch your shows, and I’ll watch my drek”.

  7. Certainly! I don’t presume my preference to be significant.

I love me some Smallville, after all.

  8. I don’t like anything on tv right now… except pokemon and trasformers: cybertron, and T:C has already shown all the episodes 🙁

  9. Maybe it will hit its stride – I can see where they were going and the writing was certainly TRYING, but there seemed to be a disconnect in the writing vs the acting.

Plus, I cannot conscience characters who are stupid. Jane Espenson says it is fine for characters to be naive, careless, etc., but to be actually stupid (ie switching cards? Hello?) means you can no longer root for the person.

  10. i’m not only basing it on your opinion, i had my reservations as well. i tried 4400 and thought that was lame too.

  11. It’s just xmen with extra gore 🙂 Personally I like it OK, but that is probably just ’cause I dig the little Japanese dude, and I really like watching supermodels and cheerleaders murder stinky evil boys. Don’t tell anybody.

  12. yeah, if you can overlook the assitude of the character! I KNO U CAN Personally, you know me, cute little nerdy japanese dude all the way. Though the Indian dude is pretty damn hot too. 🙂

Now you see, don’t you, the redeeming features of the show? CUTE BOYS!

  13. He was the only one, and now he’s likely dead. Or brain-dead, like the writers. Nope, can’t truck with that ilk.

  14. At least tomorrow we’ll get to find out what’s up with the rest of the Losties. Take heart!

  15. I like it. But then again, I have nothing else going on, on Monday night. It’s certainly no masterpiece.

Lost and BSG are out for me, cause I missed too much of them, from deployments and not having premium cable for the last two years.

BSG sucked me in on this season’s premiere, but something about when it is scheduled makes me miss seeing it. I was totally happy they brought it back, since I loved the first one in spite of its Mormon overtones. I caught the first half of the first episode, and then promptly missed every other single episode until this season. I’ll just wait till it gets cancelled and then Netflix the whole thing. Same with Lost. I saw the third episode a year ago, and that was enough to make me realize I want to watch it all in order.

I watched Firefly that way, since I managed to not even know it had existed until Serenity came out.

And what’s wrong with using Tivo as a verb? Makes sense to me.
