Stuporman

Went last night with good friends to see “Superman Returns.”

It was eh. Pretty and nice effects, but BOOOOORING. Mr. Man was pretty which was nice to see. James Marsden as well was nice to look at, Kate B. looked well (though far too young — heather). Kev S. as Luthor was decent. I just couldn’t bring myself to care about the OVERLY EMOTIONAL aspect of the film. Yawn. Perhaps it’s the overhyperbole of Superman himself, but nothing really seemed to be that big of a deal.

And wasn’t this just the plot of the first superman over again, this time with superman being dead/alive rather than lois?

And when did lois get a wonder-woman strength womb? (thanks, Mr. Smith)

Still, it was over-all enjoyable. Too bad for them that Pirates comes out in a few days to remove any future money from their coffers (they being WB). I hope they got all they needed this opening weekend.

But really, Mr. Singer — we know you’re a big queen. Quit it with the longing looks and drawn out “emotion” already. It’s fucking tedious.

  1. I mean, she’s 22 years old, and it is suppposed to have been 5 years AND she’s already a hot shot reporter? How come Jimmy is still an errand boy after 5 years? SERIOUSLY.

And Superman just LEAVES Lex & Kitty (who is fairly innocent, right?) on the island to DIE? That seems very un-Superman like.

  2. She is fantastic, I felt bad for her she didn’t have more to do. I LOVED the first scene she’s in, when Lex holds the door open for her. Something about it was just, sweet. Then they sort of dropped the in-cahoots feeling.

Oh they do the emotional hyperbole thing so the masses can feel something. It’s the only reason we go to movies. The rest of us have to screen that stuff. Though I confess had I gone I’d be bitching about it too.

Well, it isn’t like the Superman-thing is new. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
