  1. Despite my earlier post sending sympathy to my New York friends, I am for the strike. The Mayor is selfish, not the transit workers. 🙁

  2. I loved his stupid victimization / pro-business bullshit about “public safety.” What a complete tool.

  3. Not sure about the whole of it… but one of their arguments is that they should be allowed to retire at 55 rather than 62 (to be fair, it would be a change upwards for them, and I can understand resisting, but it’s the way most companies are going these days). Boo-fucking-hoo. Sorry, I’m not actually for or against but that one sticking point just annoys me. The workers should have a contract. The people who can barely afford to take the subway, never mind alternate transportation, shouldn’t have to suffer for it though (yeah, great, their choices are to not get paid or to walk tens of blocks to get to work, and they probably can’t get to their second jobs in time).

However, on the more personal side, the whole thing is just annoying. I’m sick of hearing about it, and honestly wish that they wouldn’t run any more news stories on it until it’s resolved. Every freaking day for 2 weeks now, if not longer.

My hopes for how it works out is that the union gets some stuff, and gets back to work. But… whatever, the mayor and the union can keep having their pissing match for as long as they want. All the people leaving for work several hours early might rise and fight one day though… 😉

  4. The funny thing is that I don’t even use that kind of transit… Heh! Smoochies!!! Long time no talk, I am so bad. But still, smoochies!!!

  5. People Forced To Use Own Legs As Means Of Transport!

“If God had meant us to walk, He wouldn’t have given us automobiles,” said Mayor Blunderberg.

Cars With Less Than Four Passengers Turned Away!

“Damn those strikers for forcing us to be efficient. It is the choice, nay, the patriotic duty of every American to use the most inefficient form of transport possible!”

  6. We no longer ask that question in this country, as it would imply that a thoughtful, reasoned analysis of the issue might follow. As a nation, we have abandoned such activities. As proof, I give you the 2004 election.

  7. No shit. I hope Bloomburg gets a fucking terminal disease and dies in horribly drawn-out painful agony.
