the cool thing about anime is… there is something for everyone where as most american anime is all for children but i am sure i could find you a show you would like… perhaps.
Oh, yeah, there are ones I do like, and they are usually a-typical of the major influences of the ‘mainstream’ of Anime. I should add Manga to that
Which only proves I like anime when it isn’t anime-like.
But it brings up the topic that LJ doesn’t allow for hyperbole; I make a nice brainless rant about “I HATE X” or “GAH! FUCKING Y!” and it is destroyed by reason and discussion, which kind of ruins the rant, dontcha know? 😉

There’s a “foreign/otherworldlyness” to the majority of the aestheic of Anime that just makes me INSANE, like it’s an eldritch horror. I seeth from viewing it inside, it is an anethma.
Realise this is not a vaule judgement, merely a reporting of a base feeling I have when vieiwng.
I’m Animephobic. Every once in a while I when my tolerance is overcome with its influence in web graphics, my brain screams “AAAAAH!!!!! NO MORE!!!!! GET ME AWAY FROM THE HORRar OF IT ALL!!!!”
Then I’m ok.
I’d actually love to see Horror Anime if there is any: It’ll actually scare me!

there is a short series that is very creepy they just showed on Adult Swim Called Paranoia Agent and it is really dead on about peoples fears and paranoia getting the best of them and its really scary one i remember is this kid being pressured to do well on an exam in college and he is throwing up equations and he sneezes the keep flying out of his mouth his nose his ears everywhere and he is just freaking out its really creepy yet well done.

You and me both, and what’s more, I hate the fact that when I venture forth into the world to actually SAY this…I get a bunch of slavish anime defenders rushing forward to tell me that if I just watch (insertnamehere) I’ll change my mind. I’ve tried that. I’ve rented and or been given ten ton of anime movies, some of which are being exhorted as “the animated masterpiece of our time” on the box…and I haaaaaaaaaaaate them.
Something about that particular visual style and animation style just drives me nuts. *twitch*
Why do you hate anime? I’m rather neutral about it.
I’m thinking if the storyline mixes with my aversion to the form, it would help.
Because I find it un-nervingly disconcerting.
