John Kerry gave a brilliant speech last night. Find the full text here.
Here’s a sample:
Katrina is a symbol of all this administration does and doesn’t do. Michael
Brown — or Brownie as the President so famously thanked him for doing a heck
of a job – Brownie is to Katrina what Paul Bremer is to peace in Iraq; what
George Tenet is to slam dunk intelligence; what Paul Wolfowitz is to parades
paved with flowers in Baghdad; what Dick Cheney is to visionary energy policy;
what Donald Rumsfeld is to basic war planning; what Tom Delay is to ethics;
and what George Bush is to “Mission Accomplished” and “Wanted
Dead or Alive.” The bottom line is simple: The “we’ll do whatever
it takes” administration doesn’t have what it takes to get the job done.This is the Katrina administration.
It has consistently squandered time, tax dollars, political capital, and even
risked American lives on sideshow adventures: A war of choice in Iraq against
someone who had nothing to do with 9/11; a full scale presidential assault on
Social Security when everyone knows the real crisis is in health care – Medicare
and Medicaid. And that’s before you get to willful denial on global warming;
avoidance on competitiveness; complicity in the loss and refusal of health care
to millions.
It’s time for Bush to Step down. If he had an ounce of decency he’d resign. Unfortunately, he is entirely devoid of any semblance of such. The entire administration needs to be indicted, convicted, and imprisoned. These criminals must be held accountable for the health of our Country.

Personally, I’d rather they all be convicted and executed rather than imprisoned. Shuffling them all off to Club Fed for life would only serve to waste more taxpayer dollars. I think enough money has been wasted on these treasonous criminals.
It costs more in taxpayer dollars to execute than life in prison. Besides, One can’t sufffer if one is dead.
Very good point about the suffering.
They do need to suffer- but the club fed line is a good point- they need to be in a real prison, not a bullshit you-can-still-play-tennis prison. I’d like to see Rumsfeld held down and burned with cigarettes personally. But ultimately, as satifying as it would be, I would not want them killed in prison or tortured. I really hate when people think it’s ok that someone is killed in prison- justice still has to have value, and since this administration clearly has so little respect for human rights, we have to rise above them and show them that it does matter.
Of course, it’s all moot, since it will never happen. Just a few more years until they’re all on the corporate lecture circuit and various boards making shitloads of money and rewriting history. Disgusting but highly likely.
On a lighter note of indignation, I have a friend who wants to make “Doin’ a heck of a job, Brownie!” t-shirts, which I love.
That T-Shirt would be the tits.
If he only would have stuck the knife into Bush and twisted in September of last year…
Zero tolerance of Republican bullshit in the 2006 elections, and then we’ll see impeachment of Bush and Cheney as the first thing on the agenda when Congress opens its session in 2007.

bright spot: Clark County passed its transit levy, so at least we get to keep our shitty public transit system! Woo! Yeah, things are pretty sad when that is an exciting political outcome for me…
they own everything. If Clinton had lied to get us into an unnessesary war, the news would read “clinton to be impeached?” in big bold letters. Instead it reads ” slight possibility of off-hand partial involvement in slight modification of certain documents pertaining to the possible purchase of uranium for an un-named african country could somehow involve lower level administration personal. Such involvement was entirely unknown by the leaders of such administration, should this have taken place after all”.
and now they are going to investigate…… Isn’t that like having OJ Simpson looking for the real killers?
