This makes me v. happy for these reasons:
1. iTards will feel betrayed (yep, suck it iTards! 😀 heheheh)
2. It is a great business decision for Apple, meaning they may be on MS’s turf and can fight better
3. Even if Apple retains their Hardware Monopoly, cracked versions of their OS will start to become available to home-builders of computers.
4. When Cracked versions become available, linux users (who have the right platform, who have been making linux drivers for x86 architecture) will start hacking away, porting over linux-to-darwin device drivers, growing the base for Apple users
5. Apple has large enough base to stop being a hardware company and start being a software company
6. Apple level competitors with MS == WE WIN.
Yay. Good for Apple.
Why, oh, why to giggle with the thought of fretting iTards? Is it because I am a bad person? heheheheheheh giggle.
I keep finding myself saying, “no, I’m a Unix geek not Mac geek.” I’m currently running Os X at work and at home, and I really like it, but I want to make sure people know which cult I’m a part of.
My people would never break backups by using π in a file name. It just wouldn’t occur to us.
Umm, I have no idea what # 4 means. I am not cool. Perhaps I am an iTard.
Not cool is the new cool, which makes cool the new not cool. Vampires now have reflections.
Even when Apple likely ties the OS to some hardware key or factor, someone somewhere will hack it and release it, where it will be spread and people who have home-built systems will be able to play with making OS X work on their x86 architecture machines.
This is actually good for Apple (imnsho), though they’ll never admit it.
or how about putting a space at the end of a filename? WTF people?
I feel slightly miffed that I paid good $$ for my ibook, but I can’t say I really feel betrayed by the decision. Like you, I think it was a good business move.
Also, Hi. =)
