I’m on the warpath today. Looking for a fight. Howling to the moonlight on a hot summer night. Singing… wait, no, that’s the stray cat.
But seriously, the outside of the bed was all the wrong side this morning.
I am itching for a flamewar, though. To anyone who gets hit with my snark today, I apologize in theory even though the side you see is a true and accurate as any sliver of my personality.
These are the sorts of days where I join high-flame-content communities just to get into an arguement. It’s fun.
May I recommend spanking a librarian to work out those aggressions? : )
I’ve found that I enjoy that feeling.
Others around me, not so much, but a little of the ol’ rage-o-hol can put me in a hppier spirit at the end of it.
Hey!
You do ache for discipline.
Bring it on, baby!
I’ve been thinking about this lately and would like your input:
Do you think children’s television/movies etc really affect their opinions and view of the world? For example, do movies displaying stereotypical views of gender defined roles make children more susceptable to fulfilling those roles?
This morning I was wondering about The Wizard of Oz as a lesson for girls to stay at home and never question authority. While I certainly didn’t succumb to that imagry (I didn’t become a drunken racist like my father either), the appeal of “there’s no place like home” is very tangible to me.
Or maybe I’m just glad to be back with my stuff after house-sitting for a week.
It’s the truth that makes us uncomfotable: Abusing others is fun as all hell.
It gnaws at me like nobody’s business. : )
Everybody’s getting spanked but me. 🙁
Well, I’m careful to earn my spankings.
I think that is overthinking in the specific, one of the dangers of post-modern thought.
So, No. I don’t think that’s very likely. I’ve personally been coming to see media and art as only a mirror, telling you where society is instead of guiding it.
I think to be able to see those themes in the movies, one already has to know them. I mean, you can find any number of *likely* themes in a piece of media and make it fit; it is to the applicability of the media. This says more about the viewer and the society of the viewer rather than the piece of media. Mirror, not guiding light.
But that’s just how I see it. I think it is a waste of time to try to change the mirror when we need to rather fix our face if we don’t like what we see.
Eh, ignore this – totally the wrong thread for it. Sorry.
Save it for a day when we are drunk and together. It’s a fun conversation.
August! I’ll buy.
Yeah – That was the joy of TH. You could always goad Chuck out and make him dance like a marionette. Such a simple, simple person he was.
I still love you, baby. 🙂
Funny, I thought of Chuck as I read this post. Heh.
Sweet.
one of the dangers of post-modern thought
No such thing. You’re going to get a spanking for introducing the idea.
And what’s not to love?! (Stop laughing, Heather.)
Wow, you’re kinda hot when you’re cranky…
No, I give spankings. I do not receive them.
Well, thank’ee.
Please! There is nothing about you–not your grumpy nature, not your terminal sock shedding, not your tendency to yell “Jesusmotherfucker!” when sneezing–that isn’t totally lovable.
rage away! rage away!
perhaps a trip to the DMV– that would be a great outlet for you 🙂
ahahahaaaa!! That is TOTALLY WHAT I SAY TO ERICK ALL THE TIME. direct quote, dude.
Let’s have a spankings-giving party! With the tying up! NAUGHTY ZOOT! (ps I love the cranky baby craig icon. so cute!)
yay for parties.
seems like that was true for everyone yesterday… several people had massive icky breakups, bad days, anger, general malaise.
oh well. it was a thursday.
Never got the hang of Thursdays.
seems to be a fairly common problem…
… btw, like the site design – the color + nifty background works pretty well.
