Good Movie Choices.

We saw “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” on Sunday. The projector had difficulty with lenses and focusing so the whole movie had forced depth of field due to strange focus issues. We chose to stay and watch it anway. I loved it – I was happy to see that the only compromize was the addition of a formulaic lost-love movie style arc. I didn’t mind that as every actor was spot-on and lovely.

I also realized how much I miss the Jim Henson creature shop. How a bout a Labyrinth 2? Jennifer C’s career can’t be all good with her staring in crap schlock horror (“dark water”), and bowie could throw one out. I see “Drop dead fred” meets the TV series “Beauty and the Beast.”

Also, when our friend was here we went to see “Sin City.” Damn, I loved that flick. So Pretty and stylized. It’s strange how stylized violence and gore doesn’t bother me in the least; quite the contrary as it turns out: I adored it. Gorgeous. I’ll be happy to see this one again

Need to see Hitchhiker’s again though, this time in focus (and for free: we got free tickets for our troubles).

  1. good of them to give you free tickets. last time I saw an out of focus movie (crouching tiger), I got a big shrug when I complained about it.

and yes, I miss henson’s creature shop. it was a reminder of why the early star wars were so much better. latex just can’t be replicated in CG. 🙂

  2. I rewatched Return of the Jedi this weekend, and remembered how much I love the Jim Henson look of some of the creatures. Max Rebo!

  3. During Hitchiker’s, I could not stop looking at the Vogon’s lips. They are so disgusting and drooly and real. CG just can’t match that slimy texture yet.

  4. I fell in love with Arthur when he asked for a cup of tea. He is just so adorable.
