OK, here is my hand at starting a new meme. You can steal it, change it, give me credit, not give me credit. Who cares. OK:

List one (or more) solid positions/beliefs you hold that would likely offend/upset. You know, a “secret” belief that you usually choose to keep close. No I’m not doing this to get my fingers in your brain, . I’m choosing to share on my own.

1. I think child molestation is no worse than sending your kids to sunday school.

(that is, the ‘evils’ of both equate in my mind)

  1. I think that the California Driver’s License Exam should be given only in English and not the 14 languages in which it’s already offered.

  2. Oh, and I think that divorce should be completely illegal, and that should a murder occur because of divorce being illegal, that the murdering spouse be put to death as well.

    I think prostitution should legalized. (Also regulated and taxed (!) by the government.)

    as much as i’m a huggy-feely sort, i firmly believe in eye-for-an-eye punishments for child/animal cruelty. like if you drown a kitten in a bag, you also get drowned in a bag.

    for instance, my take on the agreeing to that statement is that I don’t believe in the entitlement to property rights.

  11. 1. Not only am I an atheist, I feel no spirituality whatsoever. Zero. Not only am I against organized religion, I also think New Age, Wicca, and other “liberal” religions are foolishness.

    2. The Catholic Church is an evil, corrupt organization.

    3. I am more suspicious of cops than criminals.

    5. A lot of veganism is foolishness, just like religion.

  13. Oh, and I also think there should be an age of consent for religion – tormenting children by saying they’re going to hell because they won’t pick up their toys is not cool. A confirmation/bar or bat mitzvah should be an *introduction* to religion.

    I believe that the Holy Land should be nuked. Reduced to a smoldering crater, irradiated & barren for centuries to come. My rationale being that since no group wants the other to have it, then no one should. Besides, if it really is the Holy Land, then I’m sure someone’s god will fix it.

  17. I believe that it is completely possible to be both fiscally conservative and socially liberal. One thought process does not cancel out the other.

  21. In most cases civil rights would trump property rights. But there would probably be some exceptions, though my brain isn’t working fast enough to tell you what that would be at the moment.

  22. 1. I think anyone on federal or state financial assistance should be forced to use contraception until they can support themselves.

    2. I think most people who are unemployed could get a job if they really wanted to.

    3. I think chronic fatigue syndrome and ADD are made-up diseases and we should go back to calling them “laziness” and “acting up.”

  34. That’s the meat in my position. Purposely dumping a developing mind into a complex ‘adult’ philosophy/emotional concept is abusive, IMNSHO – wether it be Religion, Sexuality, Poverty, Racism.

    Slippery slope and Equivocation not withstanding, of course.

  41. what parts of veganism? i admit some of it is way over the top but i think its more of making a statement though, like why are there animal bones in film (film contains geletin geletin contains animal bones) but i don’t know like i am a vegetarian because i hate red meat and i just think conditions for animals are horrible and its sick and i dont want to be a part of it, almost i wouldnt want to be a part of the nazi party.

    2. I was layed off in November- am on unemployment- have a Masters Degree in Business Administration- apply for jobs EVERY day, still unemployed. I want to work, I need to work. Any suggestions?

  43. i actually do have ADD and its crazy when i was in school i used to black out and i wouldn’t even remember what happened for a whole period of class… its like i was there and coherant but wasn’t at the same time. and i 90% of the time i have to be doing 2 things at the same time so i can concentrate. like driving my car ill forget i am drving if i am not smoking. its hard to explain but it does exist. chronic fatigue is laziness though ill give you that lol.

  44. I say 2 having been unemployed for what felt like forever myself. I couldn’t find a job as an editor, but if I had really wanted to, I could have gotten a job at Starbucks or the art-supply store or something. “A job” doesn’t mean “a good job,” unfortunately. That and the fact that having a job doesn’t equate to being able to support oneself are a whole ‘nother can of worms.

    I assume you know of Monster and CareerBuilder. If your city has a section on craigslist.org, try looking there. That’s how I finally found a job.

  46. OK, I do see that the condition exists; but for every 1 person with a real problem like you, I bet there are 99 kids on Ritalin because their parents can’t be arsed to actually parent.

  47. 1. I believe that the federal government should end all foreign aid and spend that money at home where it is needed.

    2. We should immediately suspend all trade with China until that nation’s government allows free and pluralistic elections, and true guarantee of human rights. This will have an additional and positive effect in returning manufacturing jobs to the US.

    3. Maybe not odd for this group, but I do live in Virginia where this idea is blasphemy- I think that tax cuts are not only wrong and shortsighted, but that the government should increase taxes- specifically those on corporate profits.

  48. I think I know every job website on the net. And I have 3 employment agencies and placement firms looking for me– no luck yet

    And likewise I can wait tables or such but I am saving that as a last resort.
    The wonderful Peoples Republic of Virginia only gives you 6 months of unemployment and then you are fucked. I am at 4.5 months and am starting to get worried.

    I think domesticating animals as house pets is done by arresting thier development, placing them in a permanent state of juvenile dependence, and ultimately our reasons for doing this are self-serving.
