I start a new quarter today.
I’m sill in 1-class-mode until finances are better figured out. At 1 class I can still work 40hrs and the cost is relatively do-able if budgeted.
So what am I taking?
ENG 306: Tolkien.
I shit ye nay. Me, in a Tolkien class. Think of how much I’ll save on books!
I’m leaving work for the first session in about 20 minutes here. I’ll post again about it when I get back.
I don’t know what to say.
Yes, jealous.. certainly.
Have fun!
And it is toward my graduation. It is a University Studies class in my chosen grouping, “popular culture.”
Pretty keen.
Do you even need to take a class?! You should be teaching the class! LOL!
Talk about an annoying student to have in class…be sure to sit in the front of the class.
Damn! You should have worn a green cloak and elf ears, just to scare the crap out of whomever is teaching it.
Here’s to hoping it doesn’t suck!
I am envious. Yea, even unto green with envy.
Oh, I’m already known in the class. I’m sure I’ll be hated by those whom I would like to be hated by.
I need to work on fellowship with those I’d like to know better – that’s the trick.
Then again, you have no excuse for not being called on.
I did a presentation on The Simpsons in law school, comparing it to other satirical comics and cartoons through the ages. Easiest A I ever got.
Well, The professor already said, “when I was talking to Tom Shippey in October about this, he thought that…” So We’re good.
It is a bit pedestrian, but I already asked about scope of the paper and I’ll be fine to go as deep as I want to.
I’m thinking on reading the Eddas or Kalavala or something.. I have so many topics right now that would be easy to write on.
Mwuhahahahahah
Read next post for more on it.
I have been waiting all my academic career for a class like this.
My resposibility to learn has me thinking I need to take an extra step and not take an easy route like “Frodo as a sacrificial character,” or anything baby-level like that…..
Rules!!!
Hm. I should check out the English departments at Bonas (my alma mater) and JCC (local comm college) and see if they have a similar course that I could audit.
I think I have a copy of the Eddas somewhere…
I could also get it from the library!
Yay for libraries!
