Damn I’m always busy it would seem
Had a good TG holiday, though The OC (and soCal) just keeps getting worse (or do I keep getting better?) Too many people, not enough taste. <--- Sums it up. Trying to effect some change here at work is going to be like pulling teeth. And I'm going to need to spend more time on it than user support if I want to be successful. Hard decision, but it is time to think bigger picture for a while. Was hard to get up this morning, but I did it! Weee. Plus I was good enough to unpack my clothes from the suitcase last night, rather than the usual "leave it around forever" routine. Small steps. I really want to get a tree soon! Need to clean first though. All energies into the party in TWO!WEEKS! (and ONLY! ONE! WEEKEND! TILL!) DO NOT PANIC. Oh, BTW it is on the Friday, 10 Dec 2004 from 8:00 - whenever. Get a head start on the celebrating. And I'm trying a new thing: No support website for the party. It's shocking I know. I'll do a specific post about it with a scan of the invite. 10 DEC 2004 - Gruss Vom Krampus Party.
Yeah, life behind the orange curtain does seem to becoming more, well I don’t really have a word for it, but it would be a negative word. It reminds me of all the depressing parts of LA county in the 80’s, but with late 90’s style architecture.
Please, don’t besmirch this paradise down south with the rest of SoCal, though.
San Diego is so fucking chill compared to OC and LA. We have our share of assholes, (Myself included,) but for the most part everyone is more polite and easy-going. Could be the mix of near-perfect year round weather with an actual undestroyed wilderness less than 30 minutes away. Or perhaps it is all the military people too happy just to be home, to get upset about that SUV that just cut them off. (That would explain some of Orange County’s demise, there are no military except recruiters up there anymore.)
Every time I go home, the traffic seems so much worse than before, despite the fact that the freeways are wider and the exits are far more logical. It’s like LA without whatever small redeeming qualities LA had.
It’s almost depressing that I am contemplating moving back there.
This little comment stuck in my head. Words of wisdom for the masses, I think. Leastways, I can think of many ways to benefit by following said advice.
San Diego is Boretown USA.
It sets new averages in mediocrity.
(And I hate the weather. I’m a freak who likes it cold and rainy)
“It sets new averages in mediocrity.”
HA!
I came up with that silly little bon motte in Leslie’s living room describing my armchair critique of the vocal stylings of Miss Norah Jones.
Yes, I enjoy my prepositions.
I certainly hope I can be successful here doing it.
I think I have a good 1:3 chance. I’m not going down without a fight though. get your mind out of the gutter.
I still consider “knitting is the new irony: to be one of the funniest things I ever heard you say.
You kill me, with the funny.
I thought that was her sweet, sultry banality.
welcome back to the land of the COLDER THAN A WITCH’S TEAT BUT NOT SNOWING place.
Only because you don’t own a motorcycle.
And I can understand the rainy thing. I like the cleansing effect that rain has. But not all the time. Seattle would almost be a livable place if it wan’t for the rain. The first 5 days of august are super swell up there.
I would like to smugly point out that we got about 3 feet of snow last weekend down here.
Oh and the sun comes out to.
“here”? wherezat?
I’m just hoping for another hardcore snowing-in like last year. Just after New Years’, so the house was full of food and liquor; the power stayed on, so we had internet, satellite tv and the hot tub to keep us busy. And I didn’t have to worry about going to work. FABULOUS.
Okay above I was talking about “here” as San Diego, but the snow was “here” SoCal as Wrightwood.
You caught me. You guys prolly actually get snow in the city.
But it does snow in the San Diego area, usually in Julian or Laguna, (Not to be confused with the other Laguna behind the Orange Curtain.)
North County is Snoreville totally..No life at all…
Get into the down town area and you’ve got some fun. The GasLamp District is a hoot. You can do a pub crawl every night of the week and not hit the same bar twice. I’d go almost as far as saying you can do it for 2 weeks straight and not duplicate a bar.
There’s also lots of beach sports, of course, and Golfing. The museums and the zoo. Well…You know..Touristy things…
Plus there’s the mountains and all that fun and stuff in nature.
But yeah..It doesn’t rain very much, which is disappointing for me. I love rain too. Always have. This is the rainiest season I’ve encountered in the last 7 years and I’m loving it!
I envy your rain and green…
And SD is still the same to me…
