An interesting common Kerry Criticism I hear is that he “speaks vaguely and doesn’t say anything.” (???)
Interesting in the fashion that I don’t get that at all. It almost to me seems a purposeful misunderstanding based on personal issues.
So, I’d love some examples (from those who view our next President in this way)
Tell me some of these ambiguities, please.
HOWEVER, if they are in the way of these criticisms:
1. Kerry says life begins at conception
2. Kerry is pro-choice
Or:
1. Kerry says he won’t give anyone else a ‘Veto” on US hegemony
2. He wants to pass a “global test”
and you think these are vague or conflictory (and an example of the reported ambiguity), NEVER MIND. I understand that criticism all too well. I’d continue in a arguemnt of it, but I wouldn’t want to build any straw men (even if they are a perfect likeness). Fucking dualistic thinkers.
I mean, Duh! This isn’t nuclear physics.
That’s what I’ve been saying to the “undecided” voters I have run into lately. Only I said “NUCULER”.
Yesterday I offered to smack my dear friend James upside the head to HELP HIM DECIDE. How fucking hard is this? Probably not the recommended approach, but come on now. He’s a 50 year old “conservative” Christian, but he is a very sensible guy.
Bah. Back to the topic…I can’t really answer your question because I don’t get it either. I am continually dismayed at the inability of people in general to understand what Kerry meant when he said “GLOBAL TEST”. He didn’t mean the entire world has to agree with him. Jesus fucking Christ, it’s called CONNOTATION.
That to me suggest rhetoric rather than conviction.
ABUSE! ABUSE! ABUSE of the word rhetoric!
Hey!
I was an Army tard!
ahahahhaha! I’m so fucking sick of that word.
Hey!
I’m a guntard!
Not only am I a bad homosexual, do you think I’m a bad lefty too?
David, concerns
**shock
I have a degree in that. I am *hurt*. *Wounded*. *Maimed*.
“We’re Beatrice”
a degree…in rhetoric?
That’s fabulous. =)
I’m not a hater, anyway. JUST SICK OF IT RIGHT NOW, somewhat as I am sick of “flipflop”, “terror”, “electoral”, and “WORK”.
Many people did stupid things after 911 (, I’m looking at you!).
My father bought duct tape and heavy grade clear plastic.
Thanks, asshole. See, it’s okay when I call myself a dumb jarhead. But no one else is allowed to.
Besides automatic weapons are fucking fun
Yeeha
Sad that you think its a dick replacement, does the same apply to archery, paintball guns, and slingshots?
What about video games involving firearms? Is Scorched Earth for Jethro Tinydick?
Just wondering.
Okay, I was wrong… I went through the PLAN FOR AMERICA section. In the Kerry-Edwards policy documents I didn’t find anything. I can’t find where you found the link to the lgbt pages.
Once I did a search on the word “gay” from his page, that’s when some stuff came up. But it’s hidden in there. It’s not obvious. It’s not a big ol’ bullet point. I wanted it to be.
Bush basically waffled and said he’d support civil unions in the 11th hour. So really, if that’s my major issue, then there’s no differences between the candidates.
Getting back to the argument, I’ve read interviews with Kerry. I’ve watched all the debates. I’m not ivy school educated like Kerry is. I don’t have a college degree. Nothing Kerry said seemed substantial. It seems like he talks in circles and never gets to a point.
Whatever Kerry’s message was, it was obviously lost on me. I didn’t vote for Kerry because I believed in Kerry. I voted for Kerry because I didn’t believe in Bush.
Please, you were a dumb jarhead before you were ever even a real jarhead. I knew you when you had braces for god’s sake.
All that crap is mounting for dominance. If guys would just fuck each other, we could avoid it all.
For me, the issue really is training. I think you’re fine to have a gun, personally. You’re thoughtful, you were in the Army, it’s a handgun, but you know you want to kill or wound people with it. I think it ought to be a little harder to get one, but I really don’t care that much.
Remember Chuck and his handgun? That he stored in the garage when he and his wife were having problems? And his two small kids? That’s who scares me.
We were talking last night about getting a gun. I’m for a shotgun, personally. Mostly because I want to scare.
Well when I had braces I also had long-ass hair, so I was not, (Technically) a Jarhead.
I also feel as though my intelligence level has gone down since I enlisted.
If we fucked each other, wouldn’t we still be mounting each other for dominance?
And how is competition testing supereiority of engineering and skill connected to sexuality?
I think I missed something…
This is one form of gun regulation I can support. I make so many analogies to cars and driving that it is only fitting. Firearms should be giving in school, kids should at least be taught how to unload and safe a firearm. At 7, (That seems to be the age when cognitive ability allows for learning skills and hobbies, surfing and horse riding for example,) I will start teaching mine how to handle, unload and safe a weapon. It’s ironic, and perhaps hypocritical of me, but I don’t even let my son play with toy guns, because I am trying to stress to him that guns are NOT toys. (Even though I think they are a lot of fun.) Other than safety exercises, and perhaps some marksmanship practice, I don’t even involve my children with the firearms.
I also live in a nice enough neighborhood where I don’t keep a locked and loaded .45 by my bed either.
And for home defense, (Especially if you aren’t super keen on the idea of having firearms in the house,) A 12ga pump shotgun is an excellent choice.
They are effective both in lethality and in the sheer scariness of the action working. They will not penetrate through your wall and kill your neighbor if you have to fire and you miss. And for safety, the 12ga is hard for a child to cycle the action on.
I mean firearms training should be given, not firearms. Duh. Is there anyway to edit a comment other than deleting and reposting it?
I also feel as though my intelligence level has gone down since I enlisted.
I wasn’t going to mention it, but this keeps happening to people I know. Also, moving to places like Utah seems to have the same effect. It’s in the water, or something.
It’s all about superiority, whether it be mental or physical or whatever (geeks out geeking is other is the same instinct). At least the gays have a good name for it–top or bottom, let’s just label right away.
Don’t listen to me today, I’m a-jumble.
