And all goddamn operating system software developers that decide to “think” for me, “imagining” what or how I should set up printers, folders, workflows, etc.
I am the user. I fucking tell you how to operate. I TELL COMPUTERS! Do you understand? Computers DON’T tell me. Fucking Epson thinks that when I share it on a host PC that everyone else on the fucking LAN needs to not only have that printer installed, but chosen as the default.
Automatically.
Even when that user already has a printer installed.
And it does it all the time, even after you re-set the default printer or delete the “automatically” added one.
Kali damn them.
Eat my ass, EPSON.
Is that the 2000 series “Fuckwhore” model?
I’m using the HP Ball-licker, it’s fantastic
I hear Epson gives superb rim jobs, actually.
So that should be a nice evening for you.
Mmmm. HP.
That’s the word on the streets, but Epson keeps cockteasing me.
From what I’ve heard, you have to give him two shots of Tequila and a Red Bull and he’s yours all night long.
I need a converter between the “6-pack” scale and the “Tequila and Red Bull” scale.
Like: 1shotTequila/Redbull = .33 6-packs of beer.
I bought one Epson in 1995, and vowed never to purchase another. Nasty things.
How can I be catty and chat with you when you aren’t on IM, huh, MR.?
The problem is that you cannot directly convert Red Bull to 6-Packs of Beer. I mean, the most widely accepted standards of conversion are 1shotTequila = 1 – 2 6-packs of beer, but the Red Bull introduces an element of cAFFeine that cannot be accounted for in the Tequila to Beer conversion.
I think it’s like i.
The LM facility in which I am ensconced(sp) at the moment is behind the corporate Intranet, and it forbids access to Yahoo Messenger, as well as yahoo mail. : ( I’llbe in my office tomorrow though. We have an IPM in the morning, but after that I’ll be around. When are you two home PST?
A good guess! With our Hallowe’en thing and such, we’re hard to pin down. We should be home Wednesday after a accountant meeting we’re having.
And that would likely be about 10:30pm your time…
FUCKIN’ A, YOU TELL ‘EM, SISTA!!! (of course, that’s the same reason I don’t like Windows…ah, the curse of the power user) ; )
Que? To me that sounds like a non-sequitor. With MS, I am more in control of how things “work” than any other GUI OS I’ve yet tried. Of course, in a perfect world, I’d be on a terminal session to a UNIX os.
The pretty pictures and mouse spoil me.
We wouldn’t want you to get spoiled…you might need a spanking or something. 😉
BTW, I’m soo happy that OS X decided to be nice and have a terminal. I successfully trouble-shot an issue with Final Cut Pro yesterday by opening a terminal and doing my UNIX magic on the BSD /var/log directory.
It made up for TexEdit (or is it TextEdit) being unable to save in text format.
I mean, it’s a text editor – why must I save it in RTF (or Word?) ANSI/ASCII not good enough for it? 😀
Does OS X have vi installed, I wonder? Hmmm… hehehe
There’s a setting in the preferences in TextEdit that tells it to make new documents plain text, but I don’t know if that is “PLAIN” enough for the likes of you. But that is a very good question. OSX does indeed make some stupid-ass assumptions about the user, but in my experience, not nearly as many as Windows does. Of course, all my most recent experience with Windows has been using the fucking Wafer Theen Client which is extra sux0r because you can control even LESS of your environment. I HATES IT. And as to vi, I really don’t know, and if my brain wasn’t melted I bet I could find out, but it’s melted so there you are. =) MAYBE A MONKEY HUT MAI TAI WOULD FIX ME UP!??!?! =)
Thin Client sux0rs, yes, darn tootin’ XP Home also is a piece of pooh. XP Pro or nothin’ for me. (ok maybe windows 2000 pro, I guess).
I’ll look for the preferences on TexEdit – Plain Text is exactly what I’m looking for – editing of text files in ASCII.
oh, and the vi question was more of a rhetorical one. It is a standard GNU install thingie – OS X has ‘grep’ and ‘cat’ – I would think it’ll have vi and emacs as well (there’s another religious war. I’m firmly on the side of vi. Emacs is for can’t-get-a-date-with-your-hand lUsers. [I’ll get flamed for that!])
Just checked – yep! It does! (and with color highlighting turned on as well!) hooray!
I lurve me some vi!
SEE HOW HELPFUL I AM!?!?!?! I deserve a Mai Tai! (Do you sense a trend developing here?) =)
I use CreaText for editing HTML and it handily enough also handles my straight text editor requirements. Nifty open-source stuff. Hurray for sourceforge.net!
