Grr, Argh. Need to socialize!

I feel a great need to have a get-together, but I don’t know where to fit it in or how to afford it.

The Monkey Hut needs love! I also need to play some games with other people. Trouble is, No extra cash for gas to go places, or with which to purchase snacks or other such stuff. Perplexing.

I wish our fun place wasn’t so far away from our current PDX peeps, it makes it difficult to say to anyone, “hey come over and hang.” And I’m guessing there is little luck easily meeting interesting people in Troutdale/Gresham. Oh, they must be out there, but not in great amounts. I forget how much I needed personal interaction and chatting in person – phone or IM or email just doesn’t cut it.

Even then, this weekend’s time is small – Friday we are going to a party in St. Johns, Sunday we are going to celebrate ‘s bday. Saturday we should be at helping at the Haunt.

We seem to be full of social plans, but not in the type that I currenly would like. Boy do I sound bitchy and needy, huh?

Well, in other news, I’m thinking about trying to start an RPG campaign up (yet again). I sure hope this one will stick. Going back to the old standby CHAMPIONS. After watching HellBoy and Spiderman2 has really re-kindled the old RPG feelings. Broke out the RPG boxes and re-read the 5th ed. HERO rulebook. Good memories there. Perhaps tonight I’ll roll up a few characters and do some brainstorming? That sounds fun.

Oh, being broke sucks.

P.S. I can’t wait for school to start! (I better start saving for tuition and books.)

P.P.S. I’m seriously thinking about stopping driving and instead riding my bike to MAX and then to School, work, etc. As soon as all the work stuff is moved to the new office, I shouldn’t need to go between the 2 offices anymore, the bike should work. I don’t know if MAX vs. car/gas will save any $$, but it sure would help to get my ass in shape.

P.P.P.S. Need to go camping again. Bellknap coming up, that will be fun.

  1. I want to party too! I basically only have two weeks of LIFE left before I have to go back to work in earnest…and I wanna see that Monkey Hut! I will even bring booze and/or snacks. (I have a bitchen baked-olives-in-cheese recipe that kicks all ass!) =) You should totally have an appetizer party–people get to show off their culinary skillz and B their own B as well.

Even if it doesn’t get large-scale, tell me when and I will come over and bring olives and booze. That ought to be a good start. =) SERIOUSLY!!!

(p.s. party soon at chez labzick to celebrate new decor/the Installation/onset of fall and decent hot tubbing weather!)

  2. I’m loving your decor btw.

How about this Saturday Night for starters? Burl might go to cards, but you could hang informally while we possibly plan an advance appetizer party?

  3. I suggest a potluck. They’re always tremendous fun, and much less of an output (monetary/food/alcohol) than an actual party. Even if you just ask people to bring something to share, you can usually get enough food/alcohol for a good time. Chris and I used to have parties when our wine supply ran low.

And the 13th is Fidel Castro’s birthday, so you could celebrate it the next day, though I don’t know if that fits the tiki/monkey theme.

  4. Power to the People!

That is a good idea – I wonder if I could pull together a potluck for Saturday Night? Hmmm.

  5. Castro day sounds like a fantastic reason to smoke cigars and make drinks with Cubana Rum (Havana Club is all I can think of). WOOHOO!

  6. We’ll come out to your place – every so often, we need to get out of NoPo anyway, and will bring food or alcohol as appropriate, so long as you mix like a quality Tiki bartender…:)

  7. What up tomorrow? eightish-nineish? at your HUT OF MONKEYNESS? email me with directions/address again, eh?
