eh

The pics are keen, but they don’t really show off the room that well.

So after work I’ll do a new photo session and post those pics.

This will also allow me to get nice pics of the Den and the Living Room etc.

Stay tuned!

NW Tiki Crawl

Damn, what a blast!

This tiki crawl was well done, expertly pulled off.
Had a ton of fun (even though we just barely got everything done and ready for our part of the Home Tiki Bar Tour).
I reveived more compliments on our house than I really was ready for (cause it’s kind of thrown together), so that was a really nice aspect.
I’m trying to get USB camera support working on this Linux distro right now so I can post some pics I have from yesterday, bear with me.

So yes,

The Monkey Hut is open and ready for business!
Who wants the first Mai Tai?

quick one

Tiki room still being worked on, Outside colored lights placed, Den done (thanks, ).

More work to do — looks like it will be close, but do-able.

And more work at the day job too!

Work

Work

Work.

Not that I mind.

Friday

Yay for fridays.

Well, about 2/3rds of the reedcane is up. We’ll finish the last of it tonight. Looks pretty cool.

I don’t know where we’re going to put our bed after this is done – perhaps in the living room and we can masquerade it as some kind of day bed? Hm.

Anyway, progress and much more to do. busy busy busy

Tiki Room Update

Finished the last coat of ceiling paint last night. The gold dust in the paint adds a subtle effect: In darkness with candle light, there is a lovely shimmer. In light the blue shows through, but at an angle, you see a ghosted gold shimmer and light. I love it.

Tonight we’ll start to put up some of the reedcane fencing. I picked up the paper roll of Tapa Cloth to form the wainscotting at the bottom of the wall. The bamboo chair rail and panel separators are already split, ready to use.

I think we may be ready to decorate and move in furniture this weekend.
So EXITED. TIKI ROOM APPROACHING. 😀 can I get a “w00t?”

In other news, loving my new job.

In other news, need more time to level up my City of Heroes character so I’m the same level as my other friends.

Um, Yeah that’s all I can think of.

Wee

So it’s my birfday and I have no or little plans, cause of the factor of being broke. 😀

Still, there is the last coat to do on the ceiling (Thanks and for the first coat.

Then tomorrow the reed cane goes up – I had better find that tapa cloth paper for the bottom 2′, yeah? 😀

So I’m another year older and feel it. Ah well!

Ceiling

I’m just dying to get home so we can start the ceiling. We’ve decided to paint the ceiling of the tikiroom instead of covering it with any kind of thatch. We have a deep indigo/blue color, in semi-gloss. We’ll need a few or more coats, I’m sure. Still, once that is complete we can start putting up the reedcane wall covering.

Fun!

Jobbie

No not that kind of jobbie.

I have a better, decent job now. I am IT support at a cool animation production company here in portland. Their IT situation is completely messed up and I can bring it around and make it all good for them, as well as be crisis support for all their needs.

Fun! I really should have known I wasn’t tired of the industry, I was only tired of how I was being treated and tired of the faceless corporate machine as it is used by arthur anderson type upper management.

That said, everything else around here is all centered on getting the house ready for the home tiki bar tour – we should have up to about 40 tikiphiles here in 2 weeks.

So the tiki room was started yesterday. we have all the paint on the walls and trim that we need, just the ceiling needs to be done and we can then start hanging the wall covering and get all our stuff out of the boxes it has been in for about six months.

Our den is done, It looks marvelous. Sill some work is needed on swaglamps, lighting, bookshelves, etc. The TV an computers are all in place and working, our new hideous loveseat is very comfortable. I suppose we should be taking pictures and posting them…

I also yesterday dug about a 6′ diameter, 2′ deep pit yesterday in the front yard that will become a firepit area, for remembering the fun of campfires. Hooray. The house is finally coming together.

Hairy Pooter

Now thats how you make a Harry Potter movie. It was extremely satisfying – I didn’t even miss Richard Harris at all (and compared to the last one, anything would have likely been great in comparison).

Still – brilliant. Perfeclty executed. I can’t wait to see it again!
