Pink Petal Procession

I’m posting these because I’m an (attention) slut. Lookit! Perdy. ‘s floral photos have long inspiried me — I found a great use for the closeup feature on our new camera. It allowed me to spoof a photographic technique (that I have no clue what the name is) that has a very small range of focus. Neat stuff, I think.

Anyway, this is my favorite snap, the rest are under the cut.

P.S. IDed the tree as a Flowering Pink Dogwood. I seem to be obsessed.

  1. You win the prize. It is indeed a flowering pink dogwood.

I don’t know what the prize is, though.

  2. Also, since it is a dogwood, the pink ‘petals’ are actually brachts. The small green guys in the middle are the actual flowers.

  3. regardless of the trees true “type”, absolutely fantastic pictures and so beautiful.

    absolutely wonderful

  4. Does this mean that I can now list Muse on my resume? ;o)

I think those are awesome pics. I love dogwoods… And, the term for the close-up shots that you’re looking for is MACRO.

Great first effort ~ keep ’em coming!
