Weee!

I’m as happy as a pig in p00p. Fed-Ex finally brought my monitor and docking station (though the monitor is heavly [cosmetically] damaged) today. I can now work at a decent resolution and use a mouse! No more damn touch pads. God I hate touchpads – their only saving grace is that I prefer them to the little eraser thingie.

  1. I used to totally prefer the touchpads until forced to rely on the eraser thingy for awhile. After using it for some time I’ve found the eraser thingy to be more versatile and faster than the ever-annoying touchpads. Weird how that works. I still like my Kensington trackball the best, but the little eraser thing ain’t bad when you’re in an airport or in a plain/train/automobile. 🙂

  2. What’s funny is I went ‘the other way round’ – used eraser thingies, then moved to touchpad. Perhaps next time I’ll revert: the novelty may keep my mind of missing a mouse.

  3. Well, I wouldn’t want to date someone who used that term (If I were to posess a clitoris).

The way you have to mash down and tweak the eraser? That would definitely be painful.

  4. I can’t believe I misspelled plane. *sigh*

The limitation of the edges has always bugged me about the touchpads… with the eraser thingy you don’t have that… The speed issue with the eraser thingy is mostly eliminated by the pressure sensitivity and practice. The two beefs I have with the eraser thingy are one: Drifting… how annoying is it when your stupid cursor starts waltzing off the damned page while you’re trying to double click something? (which was the absolute WORST issue until I realized you just have to let go of the eraser thingy for about 4 seconds and it recalibrates itself nicely. I used to wiggle it around to try and center it and it would just keep drifting) Two: bruised fingertips from pressing the thingy too hard in a vain attempt to make the cursor move FASTER!

I’m sort of a freak when it comes to input devices though… I’ve owned pretty much every innovation for mice since they came out. Hmm… except a gyro mouse… but they hold little fascination for me because they’re not accurate enough.

  5. Heh, and all this time I thought the ever so technical term clown nose applied to that. 🙂
