God Damned “Chicago”

The font.

My hatred for Chicago knows no bounds of reason or perspective. I find it so ugly – I think it was a main reason I was unrealistically anti-apple for so long – I’ve disliked it (and typefaces like the Ultramodern family) for as long as I can remember – it is something about the sans sarif and variable stroke width that I find extremely unpleasing. Corpulent, corpselike – ew.

So, that said, now that HP has licensed the iPod from Apple, if they change the system font, I’ll be overjoyed! Since in reality, only 3 things have stopped me from wanting an iPod:

1. God Damn that fucking Chicago font!
2. No removable/serviceable battery
3. Supporting Apple’s hardware monopoly

If the HP versions are iPods with apple scratched out and ‘HP” written in crayon, fuck ’em.

  1. No, they are just needy. They are all sleeping now, so I have a break from their inability to effectively communicate with me:

    Sam: Meow!
Craig: You have food, water, clean litter, I’ve petted you. What do you want?
    Sam: Meow!

  2. I hate Chicago too. But I love my iPod. =) The battery thing is an issue, but I think with the new generation of iPods it’s less of a problem. I just had to send my 20gig in ’cause it wasn’t keeping a charge. They sent me a new one.

I think you should get the mini iPod. IN PINK. PINK!!! =) Maybe that’s just the cabin fever talking.

  3. I want one, but not with Chicago, I just can’t. Every time I see that typface I seethe. It’s not rational, I know. I can’t help it. Why oh why couldn’t they have used Helvetica? WHY? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. It will probably have Chicago, sadly. But it’s all worth it for a shot of Carly Fiorina & Dr. Dre: Together At Last

Carly & Dre: Tougher Than Leather

    Look- she’s terrified.

  5. And the new mini is cute, but a rip off: why spend $250 for 4GB, when you can get 15GB for $300- and only slightly larger? I mean, were there tons of people out there clamoring for something smaller? “iPod? No way! That thing is a tank!” – yeah, right. Apple really needed to break the $200 barrier on this product.

  6. Sokay, I don’t need all that storage on portable anyway – 128MB is plenty big for walking around/working out. Hansel’s radio reads burned mp3s, and at home the ‘puter is hooked to the stereo.

I’d just break it anyway. ๐Ÿ˜€
