Season’s Greetings

Happy Hallowe’en, All Saint’s Eve, Dia de los Muertos, Samhain, etc..

Everyone who reads this: Please do something tonight that you have yet (due to shyness, fear, etc) to do but really really want to do. Do it. Tonight’s the night, people.

Remember, you can say “It was Hallowe’en.”

(please don’t do things to hurt others and blame me: we all know that’s not what I meant, silly.)

Old Cliches

They say it’s always darkest before the dawn. I know it’s always the coldest.

As work gets worse and the move gets closer I must hone my focus on the most important aspects; but what are these?

Myself and Heather, obviously. All else can fall away. So what next to concentrate on? I hate having to use more and more of my mental facilities on this piece of shit company and their worthless expectations. So today I make a further move to better my life by working less. I will let things slip. I will use the extra presence of mind on things that are more important in the long run of my life rather than the here-and-now (This job). I will swallow my pride that keeps me overworking. I will allow myself to breathe, even though it will be difficult here. I cannot continue to feed this vicious cycle, as it adversely affects that which is more important not only here-and-now, but in the future as well.

My future does not lie with this company. I refuse to let them abuse me any further, merely because they pay me (extremely Under-Pay me). I do not view my compensation as adequate (monetary or otherwise). I will give the amount I feel I am compensated for. If they disagree, I will happily accept their termination of my employ.

I’m done.

Thoughts

All thoughts are of Hallowe’en. No other thoughts exist.

Oh, and Portland! Hallowe’en and Portland.

Oh, and RotK. Hallowe’en and Portland and RotK.

So all thoughts are of Hallowe’en, Portland, and RotK. No other thoughts exist.

Just In Case I forgot!

Weekend Update

FRIDAY:

and I went to the theatre and saw “House of the Dead.” Poor , I wouldn’t join her in her want to walk out. Remember when I said that LXG was the worst movie ever? I was wrong. I loved it, but we’re talking about MST3K quality movie here. O M G. Sad and yet funny, but then sad again. Either that or it was the best dead-pan attempt at a cliché bad movie ever. Still fun was had, even if painful. Got home earlyish, decided we still wanted fun so we walked down to the Buckhorn, a local dive. Great fun was had here, chatting up the barkeep, etc. Until we move, this locale shall be our regular.

SATURDAY:

and I and and worked with Greg & Leslie on the Hallowe’en decorations for the upcoming party this Saturday. I won’t go into detail or post photos, the surprise must be unspoiled. I will say that this will be the best job we’ve done on decorating to date. Don’t forget H and I are the ones who turned our living room into the inside of a big top for one party… Once the event goes off, I’ll produce pictures for all to enjoy.
After we called it a day, We all (except for B who went home to wait for poor miss who got caught in traffic — wish you could have come with) went to the local corn maze which stays open till 10pm. Imagine my surprise when we ran into and his friend Derek and a group of gals. We quickly said “Hi,” (we should plan a better outing before we scamper off to Portland), and then we were off to a Haunted House before it closed at 10pm. The haunted house was fun, though I still need MORE MORE FUN for mazes and haunted houses. , do you know of any more?

Also I wanted to note that I felt bad we didn’t have more time to chat and hang with and the crew, as we had some non-LJ peeps (Greg & Leslie), and we wanted to get to that other HH. Perhaps H and I need to break out the old Goth clothes and hit Death Guild. We may be too old now, though. Dammit, I used to frequent Helter Skelter in L.A.! I’ve got Goth cred somewhere! Damn kids!

SUNDAY:

We went to Cordoza’s Farm where they have a ton of pumpkins and family-freindly conveniently over-priced rides and snacks. We went with my co-worker Jeff, his wife Gabby, and their 4-year old Kai. Fun, fun, fun. Picked up 2 pumpkins, had a churro. Got some fun pics.
After that, came back home and met up with Greg to try to get more stuff acquired for costumes and the party, then remembered that the house was a mess and laundry needed washing. H-mama and I hopped back to the house and spent some quality time doing householdish type things. Beddie-bye gets me Monday.

MONDAY:
Ew. Work.

Take back the world. I know I will do my part. All of you do the same. Make change! Change yourself to change others! Power to the people! Other phrases as well!

Fucking Florida Man

Poor cubbies.

Damn, Florida and Texas. can’t we just build a wall around Austin, South Beach, and Ft. L? Cede the rest to their own country them bomb it. 😀

Interesting

Feeling trapped and depressed lately, yet look what falls into my lap to help:

My workmate and friend Steve has an SPI game from 1977 called “SAURON, The Battle for the Ring.” It is a tabletop wargame, smallish, just one battle.

It is from the “Games of MIDDLE EARTH” series – I need to do some research to find others, is there a Pellenor Fields, or Helm’s Deep?

I’d love to do wargaming of Silmarillion battles like the battle of unnumbered tears, or 2nd age battles in Cardolan, etc.

This looks like fun, and is cheering me up a bit. So yay for that.
