OK, I am asking all of youse for some help.
I would like to build some mix mp3/CDs for our new baby, Hansel (’97 VW Cabrio Convertable).
I’m looking for some Trance/Dance/Drum&Bass and I am extremely n00bie in the arena.
Reccomendations? Downloads? I’m all ears! Edumacate me! 😀 😀
Off the top of my head (and otherwise without digging through archives) I’d say that DJ Tiesto, BT, and most of Sasha/Digweed are pretty decent. Rabbit in the Moon is good if you like spacy remixes, and given her work with Dirrty, I’d also say you might want to check out anything remixed by Tracy Young. Paul Van Dyk is also worth checking out, and I’m half-and-half with Paul Oakenfold.
On the trancy side of things, I’d say to check out Blue Tonic World (mp3.com, not sure if they’re available on the peer-to-peer networks yet), for starters. They’ll have an ‘inspired by’ list that you can follow up on.
Satisfaction not guaranteed; extended disclaimers apply. 🙂
Things like “Trip to the Andes” – a compilation of D&B/triphop based upon Andean native instruments and music.

Erm…the soundtrack to “Pi” has some interesting stuff on it
(mind…blank…)
Roni Size/Reprazent – don’t know them well, got stuff from them because of “Pi”
Same with Orbital (which I love) and Autechre – which is astounding, but almost minimalist/noise-y and experimental. *I* like driving to it, but *I* am a complete nutcase. 🙂
Juno Reactor shows up as “triphop” – weird, since they do the club-favorite cover of Lloyd-Webber’s “God is God” from “Jesus Christ Superstar”…but they also have no-vocal bits that are fun to listen to. Hmmmm…
Anyway – there’s a few. My tastes are running more oontz-y nowadays…all this virtually-unemployed angst turning to rage, I suppose.
And yes, Hansel is *so* hot right now.
Hehe thanks!
I must obey the dog, you know!
Thank’ee
Before I forget, it also occurs to me that, depending on your favorite flavours of sound you might like Electrostatic (again, mp3.com)… they’re techno, with industrial sounds as base elements. Check out their songs Magnetic Pulse, Electron Gun, and Reflection to get a good feel for them.
