Ok, all you weed-soaked hippies out there, learn from my mistake:
I went to the Dentist this morning to have 3 cavaties filles, and after the 1st shot of novocaine, she begins to drill. After about 30 seconds, she hits a non-deadened nerve. I say HOhoHo. She stops.
She gives me more novocaine and we wait, then she continues. about 10 secs in
OUCH!
She gives me more novocaine (the strong stuff( and we wait. About 10 secs into it
MEGAOUCH!
She comes back and says “May I ask you a personal question? Do you use any recreational drugs such as Marijuana?”
I answer “Yes, MJ,” because I never lie to my doctor(s).
She says “Marijuana interferes with the operation of novocaine and other pain killers, It usualyy takes about 2-3 weeks of nonuse for novocaine to be effective.”
She then put in temporary fillings and I reschedule for 3 weeks ahead.
LEARN FROM MY LESSON, FRIENDS.
If you rock the Ganj, stop at least 2 weeks before you see a dentist.
IF YOU ROCK THE GANJ, STOP AT LEAST 2 WEEKS BEFORE YOU SEE A DENTIST.

Melintur — It means (in my ingnorant old use of Tolkien’s Sindarin) The power of loving music. It was the first monkier I came up for myself ages ago and it has stuck when I need a handle. As far as I know myself, a 10. No, a 9 since there is some amount of censure, but not more than I give close friends.

Y’know? LJ cuts are great tools to be nice to your friend’s friends pages when you have really large posts or do multiple quizzes and/or tests.
I think everyone should use them, they are so fun!

Dentist fun
I went to the dentist this morning and had a checkup / teeth cleaning / mouth abusing.
I have 4 cavities which will need to be filled, but I found out that I may not have dental insurance.
I’m looking into that right now with my HR dept. here.
My teeth are now only about 75% cleaned, have to go back for that as well. Since I have no toothaches or bad looking teeth or anything, I guess it just slipped by about the whole 6mo checkup thing. I have a terrible time remembering, it’s a good thing Heather did, as one of the cavities is on the verge of becoming a root canal. *whew*
As I sat in the chair and had large metal things jammed between my teeth and gums, I thought “wow, some people must really get freaked out by this.” I mean, it didn’t really ‘hurt,’ but it was strange and weird to have someone applying pressure to a metal instrument there – I can see why some are afraid of dentists, and certainly glad I’m not.
Plus I’m going to buy one of those keen sonic toothbrushes! Fun Toy!! apparently they are only about $75-$100. That’s a deal for cleaner teeth.
Oh, and FLOSS EVERYONE!! It’s cheap and saves you from the ordeal I went through this morning with the scraping and picking.
Friday the Thirteenth
Happy Friday the Thirteenth everyone!
They are starting to put out their Hallowe’en stuff!!
Weeee! We brought home some nifty hallowe’en decorations including a keen drink tub with gr00vy black cats and stars on it (galvanized steel).
However, as Heather noted, SHAG should sue, as the black cat design Target is using this year looks quite familiar.
Starting to feel the Autumnal vibe — I can already smell the pumpkin in the kitchen, and the spice in the air. This is truly my favourite time in the year – Anticipation is so much fun, because it always holds infinite promise.

Tough Love
I did a harsh and strong thing today
(I’m using real names beacuse I hate the “a friend” and other vague dumb things)
Shadesong is going through difficult times right now, and I feel that those who I believe to be “the voice of reason” are cycling through the same old arguments and advice and suggestions that have been over and through time and time again to no avail.
I personally cannot continue to be witness to the downward spiral when I feel that my attention and help and suggestions are being tossed aside.
I am drained — It is time to pull back. It is often said that an addict must hit rock bottom before change is made. I do believe that ‘song is addicted to her mental imbalances and does not wish to get better because she owns her disease, so these steps I take as a kind of tough love, but also for my own mental health.
I can’t be party to the self-abuse any longer, so I have removed her as a friend and banned her from commenting in my journal.
I don’t hate her, I haven’t removed her as a friend in my mind, only this online space. I’ll answer one-on-one email, etc..
I’ll be happy to re-add her to LJ when she is willing to be responsible to seek professional help in whatever form it may take — I’m not “signing off” anybody.
I’m always open to discussion and information, and always willing to “change my mind,” but I cannot continue the emotional vampire-ness of the depression cycle.
Besides, It will give me more time for useful communication with those on LJ who I haven’t had enough time with.

UPDATE: On careful thought, I have un-banned shadesong from commenting. I wanted to stave off a choatic discussion on my journal before we talked one-on-one about it. I realize now I should have done it temporarrily only. So I have decided to un-ban her, though it is likely she won’t post anyway, which is a shame.
