Wee!

Heather and I greeted our friend Blair who just returned from his initiation into the National Guard – he was away for 7 months or so. Nice to see he hasn’t been to screwed up by the sausage factory of the military, and that the experience was a good thing ™ for him.

He’ll be staying with us for a while and going to college to get certifcates in EMT and fire prevention/management etc.

Last night we figured that among us, we have lost a total of about 135 lbs. So we lost almost more than a person’s worth of weight. Wee!

Work sucks as because of my colleage being on vacation (and another being laidoff wednesday) I have been doing the jobs of 3 (actually, since our UNIX admin was laidoff as well, 4) people these past few days and I while I am generally good about stress, I am definitely burning out a bit now.

But my colleague comes back Monday, so it should be back to relative normal soon enough.

blah.

I HAVE IT!

Here in my hand (and on my coputer screen) is LOTR:FOTR.

Hehehehehahahahahaheheheheahahah. That is all.

Almost didn’t make it into work this morning. I had an attack of warmbeditis. But I persevered, and here I am. Blah.
Spending today building and installing our new Exchange 2000 environment, following the install guide from a colleage in Minnesota. I don’t quite trust the guide so it’s one of those “do I follow the master plan and have it screwed up, or do I fix it (therebye possible covering for a bad implementation plan?)”

FOTR comes out on DVD tomorrow, so I’ll likely be finding a store that is open 24 hrs or late tonight to pick it up at 12:01AM. Yes, I am a freak.

Happy monday!

Friday Five

1. What is your lineage? Where are your ancestors from?

Mostly from eastern Europe Russia, Poland, Germany.

2. Of those countries, which would you most like to visit?

Each and all really.

3. Which would you least like to visit? Why?

n/a

4. Do you do anything during the year to celebrate or recognize your heritage?

No – I’ve always found that heritage is an outdated concept. I don’t like to be “expected” to be in a certain group due to the contingencies of my existence. I feel more drawn toward Irish or English culture, but don’t have any ancestors there. I think it’s as dumb to place yourself in a cultural/hertiage role as it would be to assume a gender role because of the contingencies of your birth. I don’t think it’s dumb for others if they enjoy it, but it is definitely not for me.

5. Who were the first ancestors to move to your present country (parents, grandparents, etc)?

On my mother’s side, great-grand parents, on my fathers, grandparents.

Monkeys!

I was really tired and crabby yesterday evening, so I went to be early (10:00 is early for me).
Today I feel refreshed and cheerful, so I think that the extra sleep helped.
Back at work with lots of things to do, but I’m feeling unmotivated and sedentary. Perhaps I’ll read documentation, plan, and do more research into my scripting fun with ADSI. That’s fun for a craig.
